HEIC to JPG Converter

HEIC to JPG is a free converter that turns iPhone and iPad HEIC photos into JPG or PNG files. Convert as many photos as you like at once, choose the JPG quality, and download them one by one or as a ZIP. By default it removes the GPS location and keeps the date taken. Photos are decoded in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.

How to Convert HEIC to JPG

Step by step

  1. Drop your HEIC photos onto the box above, click it to choose files, or choose a whole folder.
  2. Pick JPG or PNG. For JPG, 90% quality looks the same as the original and keeps files small.
  3. Choose what to do with the photo details. By default the GPS location is removed and the date taken and camera model are kept.
  4. Each photo converts right away. Download photos one at a time, or click Download all (ZIP).

Is this HEIC to JPG converter free and unlimited?

Yes. There's no sign-up, no watermark, no daily limit and no file count limit. Because the conversion runs on your own device, the only limit is your computer's or phone's memory. Very large batches simply take a little longer.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The HEIC decoder runs inside your browser, so your photos are read, converted and saved on your device. Nothing is sent to a server, which matters for personal photos, IDs and documents. See our Privacy Policy.

How do I remove the location from iPhone photos?

Keep the default setting, Keep date and camera, remove location. The new JPG only contains the date and time the photo was taken, the time zone, and the camera make and model. GPS coordinates and everything else are left out. Choose Remove all photo details to strip the date and camera too. PNG files never include photo details.

What is a HEIC file?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the photo format iPhones and iPads use by default since iOS 11. It stores photos in about half the space of JPG, but older Windows PCs, many websites and some apps can't open it. Converting to JPG makes the photo work almost everywhere.

How do I stop my iPhone from taking HEIC photos?

On your iPhone, open Settings > Camera > Formats and choose Most Compatible. New photos will be saved as JPG. To keep HEIC on the phone but send JPGs, go to Settings > Photos and under "Transfer to Mac or PC" choose Automatic.

Does it work on Windows and Mac?

Yes. It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Android and iPhone. You don't need to install a HEIC codec or any software.

What about Live Photos and burst photos?

A HEIC file can hold more than one image. This tool converts the main photo, which is the one you see in the Photos app, and tells you when a file had more images. The video part of a Live Photo is a separate .mov file and isn't included.

Will the photo be rotated correctly?

Yes. The rotation saved in the HEIC file is applied while decoding, so the JPG is already upright and is marked as having normal orientation.

What software does the conversion?

The open-source libheif library, compiled to WebAssembly by the libheif-js project and served from this site. It's licensed under the GNU LGPL 3.0. View the license and source links.
